Why I Wanted To Start This Blog

I mentioned in my last post that the reason I started this blog is because according to statistics 97% of those who start an online business will make little or no money with it.  In other words, they fail.

Yet thousands of individuals like us start home based businesses every day.  In fact, the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that 4.12 million entrepreneurs are now working at home, most of which are in services industry.

Now my focus is going to be with Internet based home businesses because that is where I have the most experience.  So my mission (if I decide to accept it…and I do) is to try to help  those 97%  potential home business failures to become home business successes.  Hey it’s a big responsibility, but somebody’s got to do it.  “Give A Man A Fish…You Feed Him For A Day.   Teach Him To Fish You Feed Him For A Lifetime.”

Just for the record most of the tips and strategies you read on this blog are not mine.   I did not invent or discover them.  Myself and thousands of successful home business entrepreneurs  use these techniques because they work.  They are working for us, and they will work  for you…ONLY if you take action.

I am not going to lie to you and say that working from home is an easy thing to do.  It is not.  There is work involved any business if you want to make a profit.  However, the benefits greatly out way the time and effort  you have to put into your online business.  Here are some of the reasons I started my home based Internet business,

  • Retire Early- I am a baby boomer and proud of it. I am 56 years old and I do not want to have to continue working until age 60 or 65 so I can retire.  A home based business that generates  a growing residual income that increases every year is going to give me peace of mind that I will be able to replace my current JOB income with my home business income with in the next 12 months, there by being able to retire at 57 rather than 65.
  • Saving More Money- With the extra money I make from home, what I don’t reinvest in my business, I use to increase my savings.
  • Tax Advantages- Using your home as a place of business offers a number of tax advantages. For starters, it allows you to deduct a part of the operating and depreciation expenses on your home. This means that a percentage of your rent or mortgage payment, depreciation, property taxes, insurance, utilities, and expenses for household maintenance, repairs, or improvements is deductible. You can also be entitled to deduct expenses from using a vehicle for your business, including gas, insurance, depreciation, and others. Consult your accountant for a careful evaluation of what can be and what cannot be deducted from using your home office.
  • My Own Boss- Ok the truth is I am 56 old, I have worked for some else for over 40yrs.  Even though I’ve had  management positions, there was always someone over me telling me what to do.  I am about over that.  I am ready now to be my own boss, make my own decisions and make my family wealthy, rather than someone else.
  • Less risk- Running a business from home takes much less startup cash than a freestanding business, or even a franchise location. And once your business is up and running, it’s cheaper and easier to maintain than a separate business location.

Well I could go on and on but you get the ideal.  Everyone has their whys, and it is those whys that will help you stay focused on the job ahead.  Running a successful online business.

On my next post we are going to talk about how to set up your home office.  Until then,  God Bless.
